My name is Faraz Ahmed. I am a Pakistani nationalist and have been doing web development since 2003.
I wanted to join the army when I was a kid and was never interested in computer programming. The only things that I found interesting in computers were games and chatting, but I believe that went for everyone…
I got interested in computer programming when I first played Brian Lara Cricket 99. It was the first 3D cricket game of that time and I got hooked to it. I liked the game so much that I wanted to create my own games and that started my quest to learn programming.
I learned GW-Basic in school and created a few small games. In college, I met C and C++. This was the time when I got the Internet full-time at home and started learning about HTML and the web. Somebody in the college told me about hacking, and I found that very fascinating. I started learning about hacking and hacked lots of websites and email addresses. Then soon I got bored and realized that I should be spending my time doing more productive things.
I also started my own free web hosting service after noticing that there was a lot of demand for the good free hosts and I didn’t find anyone reliable myself. It was 2003 when I launched my hosting service. It was unique in the fact that I only provided MySQL database hosting and not web hosting. The reason was that there were too many web hosts that provided web hosting, but not the database, because the database driven sites took more system resources, so I came up with this unique idea of providing just MySQL database, and as I imagined, it got highly successful. Unfortunately I had to close the service down, because I was spending too much time on it, which was affecting my studies.
It was also in 2003 when I met PHP. I found the syntax similar to C, so I learned the basics in no time. Since then I’ve been programming everything in PHP. I’ve also came across ASP.NET, Java, VB, and iOS development, but PHP has become my bread and butter.
I love programming and experimenting with different sorts of code. I am a game-a-holic and love playing video games and one day I aspire to create my own video game.
I also like reading and writing fiction. My favorite sport is Cricket and Wrestling.
